A Serial enabled liquid crystal display technically is a device that is comprised of two separate pieces. It is a regular liquid crystal display that has had some sort of serial enabled LCD backpack added to it. Whether the backpack is integrated into the board or simply soldered onto the back of the LCD, it all does the same thing. Takes a normal LCD screen and turns into one that receives its commands via a serial line.
